The Pichan launch site is located in Mantua Township, Portage County, Ohio, at 11919 Mantua Center Road, about one-half mile north of State Route 82. The range will be set up to the west of the property owner's garage/barn on the west side of Mantua Center Road. The launch and recovery areas are located in an area that was once a sod farm, but is now mostly in grass and weeds.
Including the neighboring land to the north and south, the "clear" recovery area is about 1525' by 1600'. The neighbors are OK with the goings-on and other than vegetable gardens, flower beds, a few isolated trees, the occasional ditch, and a pole building, we are free to roam anywhere in the entire area for recovery. The area to the south (separated by a very deep drainage ditch) is covered with thistles and other thorny plants and has come to be known as the "Field of Thorns"[tm]. If you will be retrieving rockets, WEAR LONG PANTS! If your rocket lands in the "Field of Thorns"[tm] and you are wearing shorts, MTMA will not be responsible for blood loss.
